The Burren Ecotourism Network

The Burren Ecotourism Network will be officially launched today, March 3rd.  The Burren will be officially names as Irelands second ever ecotourism destination.  Ecotourism involves a move away from traditional mass tourism and towards providing visitors with a more individual tourist experience in Co. Clare.  The Burren Ecotourism network hopes that this brand of tourism will encourage visitors to stay for longer in the county.  Accommodation, food, farming activities, culture and heritage are all part of the elements that make the area attractive to visitors looking for authentic tourism experiences.  The designation of the Burren as an ecotourism destination is  the culmination of more than 2 years of work by the Burren Ecotourism Network – local business and organisations in the area.  It has been co-ordinated by the Burren Connect Project based in Ennistymon
