Interested to read in yesterdays papers that the Bittern, a rare member of the Heron Family, has been spotted. This bird, which is famous for its booming call, became extinct in Ireland more than 150 years ago. It is believed that the bird came here in December, seeking refuge from the freezing temperatures in France.
